Gbajabiamila Praises Lagos APC Primaries as Desmond Elliot Raises Intimidation Concerns

Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has commended the conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries in Lagos State, describing the exercise as peaceful and impressive despite complaints of intimidation raised by some aspirants, including lawmaker and actor Desmond Elliot.
Gbajabiamila spoke after participating in the party’s primary elections held across different parts of Lagos, where candidates emerged for local government and legislative positions ahead of upcoming political contests in the state.
The former Speaker of the House of Representatives said the exercise reflected internal democracy within the party and praised party members for maintaining order during the process despite tensions in some areas.

Desmond Elliot, who represents Surulere Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, however, alleged that intimidation and pressure tactics were used during parts of the exercise, raising concerns over the conduct of some party stakeholders.
The lawmaker claimed that certain political actors attempted to influence outcomes and create tension around the primary process, though he maintained that he remained committed to the APC and its leadership structure.
Despite the concerns raised, Gbajabiamila insisted that the primaries were largely successful and demonstrated the strength and organisational structure of the ruling party in Lagos State.
The APC primaries across Lagos have continued to attract public attention amid growing political alignments and internal contests ahead of future elections within the state.
