Tinubu Appoints 39-Year-Old as JAMB Registrar

President Bola Tinubu has appointed 39-year-old Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), making him the youngest person to head the examination body.

The appointment was confirmed in a statement released by the Presidency on Thursday, announcing that Aina will succeed Professor Ishaq Oloyede whose tenure as JAMB registrar is expected to end on July 31, 2026.

Professor Aina is a Computer Engineering lecturer at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, with academic and professional experience in digital systems, network security and examination technology.

According to the Presidency, the new registrar studied Computer Systems Engineering at the University of Kent in the United Kingdom and later obtained postgraduate qualifications in Internet Computing, Digital Signal Processing and Network Security.

He has also reportedly worked on several digital reform and examination management projects involving public institutions and examination bodies across Nigeria.

The Federal Government said his appointment is part of efforts to sustain reforms and strengthen technology-driven improvements within Nigeria’s tertiary admission system following years of changes introduced under the outgoing registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede.
