NDLEA Uncovers ‘Terror Drug’ Route in Kwara, Arrests Suspect Who Swallowed Cocaine

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted a dangerous consignment of illicit drugs in Kwara State, exposing what officials describe as an attempt to revive a trafficking network.
The breakthrough came during a patrol along Bode Saadu Road, where officers stopped a passenger vehicle and discovered a large quantity of Captagon pills hidden with one of the occupants.
Authorities identified the substance as a highly addictive stimulant often linked to criminal networks, warning that its presence raises serious security concerns.
During the operation, officials recovered about 10,000 pills of the drug along with other controlled substances, leading to the arrest of the suspect connected to the shipment.
In a separate operation, NDLEA officers also intercepted another vehicle carrying a significant cache of pharmaceutical opioids concealed in a specially constructed compartment, with another suspect taken into custody.
Meanwhile, in Oyo State, the agency arrested a man suspected of drug trafficking after scans revealed he had ingested illicit substances.
Under close monitoring, the suspect later expelled dozens of wraps of cocaine, confirming attempts to smuggle the drugs through internal concealment.
Investigators said the suspect planned to transport the drugs across borders using land routes to avoid airport detection, with indications the final destination was outside Nigeria.
Officials noted that such methods are becoming more common among traffickers trying to beat security checks, especially along trans-Saharan routes.
The agency described the combined operations as a major disruption to drug supply chains, warning that enforcement efforts would continue nationwide.
NDLEA leadership also commended officers involved, urging sustained vigilance as traffickers adopt more sophisticated tactics.
Authorities say the arrests and seizures highlight the evolving nature of drug-related crimes and the need for constant monitoring.
Investigations are ongoing as the agency works to identify other members of the network and prevent further distribution of the substances.
