12 Suspected Kidnappers Arrested in Edo Forest Raids as Security Sweep Intensifies

By Ranti Thomas
Security operatives have arrested 12 suspected kidnappers during coordinated raids carried out in forested areas of Edo State, as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal hideouts across the region.
The operation was conducted by a joint team of security agencies who stormed identified forest camps believed to be used for kidnapping activities, leading to the arrest of the suspects in separate locations during the sweep.
Authorities said the raids were intelligence-driven and targeted known routes and hideouts within Edo forests where kidnapping gangs are suspected to operate and coordinate attacks.
The operation is part of a wider crackdown on criminal networks in Edo State, where security forces have recently intensified forest patrols and night operations to rescue victims and disrupt ransom-based crime structures.
Officials involved in the exercise said the arrested suspects are currently being interrogated, while efforts are ongoing to track other fleeing members of the syndicate believed to still be operating within surrounding forest areas.
Security agencies have reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining pressure on kidnapping networks, noting that forest clearance operations will continue across vulnerable communities in the state.
