Security operatives in Rivers State have intensified anti-crime operations with a targeted sweep that led to the dismantling of suspected hideouts linked to kidnapping activities in parts of the state.
According to security sources, the operation was carried out following intelligence reports that traced the movement and coordination of armed groups operating from concealed forest locations.
The coordinated raid resulted in the destruction of multiple makeshift camps allegedly used by the suspects to plan abductions and other violent crimes.
Authorities say the exercise is part of a wider security push aimed at flushing out criminal elements and disrupting networks responsible for insecurity in the region.
During the operation, officers reportedly recovered several arms and other items believed to have been used in carrying out kidnapping activities.
Security personnel involved in the mission ensured the operation was conducted in a way that prevented harm to surrounding communities while fully clearing the identified locations.
Preliminary assessments indicate that the dismantled camps had been serving as operational bases for coordinated criminal activities across different parts of Rivers State.
The police have since stepped up follow-up operations to apprehend suspects who fled during the raid and dismantle any remaining cells.
Residents in affected areas have been urged to remain calm and continue to provide useful information that can assist ongoing security efforts.
Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining aggressive patrols and intelligence-driven raids aimed at restoring lasting peace and stability in Rivers State.
