The National Democratic Congress has unveiled a 20-member committee to oversee its governorship and National Assembly primaries ahead of the coming elections.
The party said the committee was created to ensure a transparent, peaceful, and credible primary process across the country. Party leaders added that the panel would supervise the conduct of governorship, Senate, and House of Representatives primaries in different states.
According to the party, the committee consists of senior members and experienced political figures trusted to manage the exercise fairly and prevent internal disputes.
The panel is expected to coordinate electoral guidelines, monitor voting procedures, and handle complaints that may arise during the primaries.
Party officials said the move forms part of wider preparations ahead of the next general elections as political activities continue to intensify nationwide.
The NDC leadership also urged aspirants and supporters to avoid violence and respect the outcome of the primary elections.
Speaking during the inauguration, party leaders stressed the need for unity and discipline among members, warning against actions capable of causing division within the party.
They added that credible primaries would strengthen the party’s chances in the elections and improve public confidence in its leadership.
The party also assured members that every aspirant would be given equal opportunity during the process without favouritism or manipulation.
Political observers believe the formation of the committee signals the beginning of intense political activities as parties position themselves ahead of the elections.
Analysts also say internal primaries may become a major test for many political parties struggling with rival camps and power battles.
The National Democratic Congress is expected to announce dates and further guidelines for the primaries in the coming days as preparations continue across different states.
