Military Assures North-East Residents Of Safe Sallah

The military has assured residents of Nigeria’s North-East region of adequate security ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, saying troops and security agencies have already intensified operations across the area.
The reassurance was given by the Headquarters Joint Task Force, Operation HADIN KAI, amid concerns over possible attacks by Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province fighters during the festive period.
In a statement issued by the military, security officials said intelligence reports indicated that insurgents could attempt isolated attacks targeting crowded public places using explosives or suicide bombers during the celebrations.
The military, however, said the threats had been anticipated and that troops had already been deployed to vulnerable locations across different parts of the North-East.
According to the command, surveillance activities, patrol operations, and intelligence gathering have also been strengthened to prevent any security breach during the Sallah period.
Security forces were said to be working closely with other agencies, local vigilante groups, and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force to maintain peace and protect residents.
The military advised residents to remain alert during the celebrations and avoid actions that could expose them to danger, especially in crowded places such as markets, parks, prayer grounds, and other public gatherings.
Residents were also encouraged to report suspicious movements, abandoned objects, or unusual activities to security agencies for quick response.
The command further urged religious leaders, traditional rulers, and community stakeholders to support ongoing security efforts by sharing useful information with authorities when necessary.
Operation HADIN KAI assured the public that troops remain fully prepared and committed to denying terrorists freedom of movement across the region during and after the festive celebrations.
