President Bola Tinubu has emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress presidential primary after defeating his only opponent, Stanley Osifo, in a nationwide exercise marked by overwhelming support from party members and leaders.
Results announced across several states showed Tinubu winning by huge margins as APC members turned out to endorse his bid ahead of the 2027 presidential election. The President dominated the exercise in states controlled by the ruling party, leaving his challenger with only a few votes in most places.
In Edo State, Tinubu secured 131,096 votes while Osifo managed just one vote. Kano State also delivered massive support for the President, where he polled over 500,000 votes compared to Osifo’s 2,675 votes.
The President also recorded landslide victories in Ogun, Jigawa, Imo, and several other states where delegates and party faithful openly backed his candidacy during the primaries.
APC leaders described the exercise as peaceful and successful, saying the outcome reflected the confidence party members still have in Tinubu’s leadership and administration.
Supporters of the President celebrated the results in different states, describing the victory as a sign of unity within the ruling party ahead of the next general election.
Despite losing heavily, Stanley Osifo accepted the outcome of the primary and pledged loyalty to the APC. He said his participation was aimed at strengthening internal democracy within the party.
The APC primary comes amid growing political activities across the country as parties begin preparations and consultations ahead of the 2027 elections.
Political observers say Tinubu’s overwhelming victory further confirms his strong influence within the APC structure nationwide and places him firmly in control of the party ahead of future political battles.
The ruling party is expected to continue its governorship, National Assembly, and state assembly primaries in the coming days as more candidates emerge across the country.
