Ghetts Jailed Over Fatal Hit‑and‑Run

British rapper Ghetts has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after causing a fatal car crash that killed a student in London.
The crash happened on the night of October 18, 2025, in Ilford, northeast London.
The victim, a 20‑year‑old university student, died two days later from injuries sustained in the collision.
Ghetts, whose real name is Justin Clarke‑Samuel, pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving.
Court officials said he was driving at high speed and over the legal alcohol limit at the time of the accident.
His car struck the student while he was crossing the road.
After the crash, Ghetts did not stop and drove several miles before returning home.
Medical help arrived quickly, but the student could not survive the severe injuries.
The judge also banned Ghetts from driving for 17 years in addition to the prison sentence.
During sentencing, the student’s parents spoke about the pain and loss they have suffered.
Ghetts apologized in court, expressing remorse for his actions and the harm caused.
His lawyers argued that he had been stressed and scared, but the court said his behaviour was reckless and dangerous.
Before the incident, Ghetts was known for his music career and contributions to the British grime scene.
The case has sparked discussion about road safety, responsibility, and the consequences of reckless driving.
