Police, Forest Guards Rescue Two Kidnap Victims In Bauchi Operation

Security operatives in Bauchi State have successfully rescued two kidnapped victims after a joint operation involving police officers and forest guards targeted criminal hideouts linked to rising abduction cases in the state.
The rescue mission was carried out by a combined team of operatives deployed by the Bauchi State Police Command as authorities intensified efforts to tackle kidnapping and restore safety in vulnerable communities.
The latest operation followed repeated reports of abduction incidents around forest communities in Ningi Local Government Area, prompting security agencies to launch an immediate response.
According to police authorities, the operation involved officers from the Violent Crime Response Unit, Anti-Kidnapping Unit, local divisional police teams and forest guards working together to track the kidnappers’ movement.
The security team reportedly moved through the Rafin Chiyawa axis toward Gwamnare forest after receiving intelligence about the activities of suspected kidnappers operating within the area.
During the operation, the joint team successfully rescued two victims identified as Alhaji Yahaya from Dogon Ruwa community and Alhaji Kabiru, who was reportedly held within the forest area.
Police officials confirmed that no casualty or injury was recorded during the rescue exercise despite the difficult terrain covered during the operation.
Authorities said the mission forms part of a broader crackdown aimed at flushing criminal groups out of forests increasingly being used as hideouts for kidnapping gangs.
The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police commended the officers and forest guards involved, praising their professionalism and courage during the operation.
Security agencies also assured residents of affected communities that efforts are ongoing to rescue other victims believed to still be in captivity while operations continue across the state.
The latest breakthrough comes as authorities continue intensifying security operations against kidnapping networks operating across northern parts of the country.
