Poco Lee Remanded in UK as London Court Fixes September Hearing

Nigerian dancer and hypeman Iweh Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, is currently being held on remand in the United Kingdom and is expected to appear before a London court on September 15 over an alleged assault offence.

The development was confirmed by Benjamin Kuti, popularly known as the Oluomo of Derby, a UK-based Nigerian community leader who said he was informed about the case through his involvement in supporting Nigerians facing legal proceedings in Britain.

According to Kuti, Poco Lee’s next appearance is scheduled for 10am on September 15, 2026, at Snaresbrook Crown Court in London.

He said the hearing is expected to be a plea hearing, where the accused would indicate whether he intends to plead guilty or not guilty to the allegation.

Kuti also said he plans to attend the proceedings as part of his efforts to support members of the Nigerian community who find themselves involved in legal matters in the UK.

He stressed that the case should be allowed to follow the proper legal process, adding that an allegation should not be treated as proof of guilt.

Reports about Poco Lee’s alleged detention in Britain first began circulating online on August 19, generating considerable discussion among his fans and Nigerians both at home and abroad.

However, important details surrounding the allegation remain limited. The identity of the complainant, the circumstances said to have led to the alleged assault and the exact charge facing the entertainer have not been publicly disclosed in the latest confirmation.

There was also no immediate independent confirmation from UK police authorities when the initial reports emerged. PUNCH reported that an email sent to the court seeking confirmation of the proceedings had not received a response at the time of publication.
