Osun Senator Reports at Police Headquarters Over Alleged Inciting Remarks
Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, has arrived at the Osun State Police Command headquarters in Osogbo for questioning over allegations of inciting comments made during a political campaign.
Fadahunsi arrived at the police headquarters on Wednesday afternoon and was accompanied by the Commissioner of Police in charge of election and security, Samuel Erale.
The senator’s appearance followed an invitation by the police after a video from an All Progressives Congress rally in Ilesa began circulating.
In the video, Fadahunsi was allegedly heard making remarks in Yoruba that were interpreted as an incitement against members of the rival Accord Party.
The police said the comments were considered threatening and capable of increasing political tension as Osun prepares for its governorship election scheduled for Saturday.
The Osun State Police Command had earlier directed the senator to report to the State Criminal Investigation Department for questioning over the matter.
Fadahunsi’s appearance comes as political activities intensify across the state, with security agencies closely monitoring campaign activities and statements by political leaders.
The police are expected to question the senator as part of efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the video and determine whether any offence was committed.
The development has further heightened attention on political conduct in Osun ahead of the governorship poll, as authorities continue to warn politicians and their supporters against actions capable of disrupting the election.
