MC Oluomo, Politicians Mourn Lagos Socialite Baba Alado

Prominent politicians, transport leaders, socialites and residents of Lagos have continued to mourn Chief Taoreed Faronbi, popularly known as Baba Alado, following his death at the age of 83.

Faronbi, a well-known figure in Mushin and other parts of Lagos, died in the early hours of Saturday, September 26, 2026.

Until his death, Baba Alado was the Olori Ebi, or head, of the Alagbeji Royal Family in Papa Ajao, Mushin. He also held traditional and commercial titles, including the Akinrogun of Isolo Kingdom and Babaloja of Aswani International Market.

For several decades, he maintained a strong presence in Lagos grassroots politics, real estate, community affairs and the transport sector, earning recognition among political and traditional figures across the state.

His family announced his death on Saturday, with his remains subsequently laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.

The funeral attracted relatives, friends, community members and prominent personalities, including Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon; the Executive Chairman of Mushin Local Government, Tunbosun Aruwe; and the Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area, Dr Oluseyi Jakande.

Baba Alado was also closely associated with the National Union of Road Transport Workers and was regarded as an influential figure within the transport community.

National President of the NURTW, Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, expressed sadness over Faronbi’s death and paid tribute to his contributions to the transport sector and his community.

MC Oluomo said Baba Alado made his mark during his lifetime and would be remembered for the relationships he built and the role he played within the transport and community space.

Beyond transport and politics, Baba Alado was one of Lagos’ recognisable socialites and maintained relationships within the entertainment industry. Leading Fuji and Juju musicians, including K1 De Ultimate, Saheed Osupa and Pasuma, had celebrated him through their music over the years.

He was equally active in land development and real estate, although some of his activities in the sector were associated with legal and communal disputes.

News of his death has continued to attract condolences from political associates, transport stakeholders, traditional figures, socialites and residents, particularly within Mushin and surrounding communities where he had built considerable influence over the years.

Baba Alado’s death brings to an end the life of a man whose name remained prominent in Lagos social, transport, business and grassroots circles for decades.
