First Osun Election Results Emerge as Voting Ends, Collation Begins
The first results of the Osun State governorship election have started emerging as voting ended in several polling units and election officials moved into the sorting and counting stage.
Presiding officers began counting ballots in the presence of voters, party agents and observers after accreditation and voting were concluded across the affected areas. Results from the polling units are expected to move through the official collation process.
At Ward 4, Unit 39 in Osogbo Local Government Area, the Accord Party secured 65 votes, while the All Progressives Congress polled 43 votes. The African Democratic Congress received two votes, while the Zenith Labour Party, Action Alliance and African Action Congress recorded one vote each.
Another result from Ward 4, Unit 13 in Osogbo showed the Accord Party polling 134 votes against the APC’s 75. The ADC scored four votes, while the ADP, AAC and APGA recorded one vote each.
Results were also beginning to emerge from other parts of the state, including Ede North, Ife North, Ibokun, Ifedayo, Ife Central, Ilesa East, Ila Orangun and other areas as the counting exercise continued.
The Independent National Electoral Commission was also uploading polling unit results to its Result Viewing Portal. As of 5:19pm, results from 1,340 out of the 3,763 polling units had been uploaded, according to the report.
Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji and ADC candidate Najeem Salaam had earlier expressed confidence of victory after casting their votes.
Salaam, however, raised concerns over the alleged non-recognition of his party agents in some areas, while the election moved into its next crucial stage of collation.
With voting now completed in several locations, attention has shifted to the official collation and transmission of results, which will determine the eventual winner of the Osun governorship election.
