Army Reshuffles Top Command, Appoints New Senior Officers

The Nigerian Army has announced a major restructuring involving the redeployment of senior officers across key command and operational positions as part of efforts to strengthen military operations nationwide.
The latest shake-up approved by the Chief of Army Staff affected several top commanders, including General Officers Commanding divisions and officers overseeing critical security operations in different parts of the country.
Not fewer than several senior military officers have been assigned new responsibilities in what authorities described as a strategic move aimed at improving operational efficiency and tackling emerging security threats.
Under the new appointments, Major General WM Dangana was named the new General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander of Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace.
Major General EI Okoro was also appointed General Officer Commanding 6 Division Nigerian Army and Land Component Commander of Joint Task Force South-South Operation Delta Safe.
The military also announced the appointment of Major General JR Lar as Commander of Army Headquarters Garrison as part of the latest changes.
Brigadier General OM Oyekola was named Acting Military Secretary, while Brigadier General I Waziri retained his position as Chief of Staff in the Office of the Chief of Army Staff.
In other new postings, Brigadier General IB Buhari was appointed Commander of Headquarters 63 Brigade, while Brigadier General K Rabiu was assigned to lead Headquarters 31 Artillery Brigade.
The Army further announced that Major General SA Emmanuel will now head the Nigerian Army Space Command, reflecting increased attention on technology and modern security operations.
Military authorities said the redeployment forms part of wider efforts to strengthen leadership capacity and improve the Army’s ability to respond effectively to security challenges facing the country.
