House Orders Police To Produce PFIPC Boss Within 48 Hours Over Fake Agency Probe
The House of Representatives has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to produce Olusegun Adeyemi, the alleged Director-General of the controversial Peace Fund for Innovative Public Intervention and Crime Prevention (PFIPC), as lawmakers intensify their investigation into the agency’s activities.
The order followed Adeyemi’s failure to honour repeated invitations by the House committee investigating how the agency allegedly found its way into the 2026 Federal Government budget and operated despite questions surrounding its legal status.
Lawmakers described the absence of the alleged agency chief as unacceptable, insisting that his appearance is essential to establishing the facts behind the operations of the PFIPC and its dealings with government institutions.
The committee said the police must ensure Adeyemi is brought before the National Assembly within two days or explain why the directive could not be carried out.
Members of the panel maintained that no individual is above legislative oversight, stressing that those connected with the agency must account for their actions before the investigation is concluded.
The lawmakers are probing allegations that the PFIPC secured recognition within government circles, maintained official bank accounts and was included in budget documents despite concerns over its legal existence.
The committee noted that testimonies already received from officials of various government agencies had raised fresh questions that only the alleged agency head could answer.
Lawmakers also warned that any attempt to evade the investigation or obstruct the committee’s work would be treated as a violation of the powers of the National Assembly.
The House said the ongoing probe is aimed at uncovering how the agency allegedly gained access to government processes, identifying those responsible and recommending appropriate sanctions where necessary.
The committee reiterated that the investigation is intended to protect public funds, strengthen accountability and prevent similar incidents from occurring within government institutions.
The lawmakers expressed confidence that the police would comply with the directive and assist in ensuring that the investigation proceeds without further delay.
