Presidency Asks DSS, EFCC To Uncover Criminal Network Behind PFIPC Scandal

The Presidency has called on the Department of State Services and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to fully investigate and dismantle what it described as a criminal network behind the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council scandal.
The call comes as the Federal Government continues efforts to address growing public concerns over allegations surrounding the purported government agency, which the Presidency insists never legally existed.
The latest development follows the prosecution of Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, who is accused of presenting himself as the Director-General of the alleged agency through forged documents and false claims.
The Presidency maintained that preliminary findings indicate the PFIPC was a fictitious organisation allegedly created to deceive government institutions and members of the public.
It urged both the DSS and the EFCC to carry out a comprehensive investigation aimed at exposing everyone connected to the alleged fraud, regardless of their position or status.
The government also stressed that anyone found to have assisted in creating, promoting or benefiting from the alleged scheme should be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The renewed call comes amid increasing demands from opposition figures, civil society groups and senior lawyers for an independent probe into how the alleged agency was able to operate and reportedly appear in official government records.
Human rights lawyer Femi Falana has argued that the matter requires an independent investigation, raising questions about reported budget allocations and other official activities allegedly linked to the disputed agency.
Meanwhile, Prince Adeyemi is expected to appear before the Federal High Court in Abuja later this month to face charges related to the alleged PFIPC scandal as investigations continue.
