2027: Toyin Abraham Rejects Inclusion In Lagos APC Campaign Council
Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has distanced herself from the Lagos State All Progressives Congress Campaign Council after her name was listed among members of the party’s Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate ahead of the 2027 elections.
Abraham, in a statement shared on her Instagram Story on Thursday, said she was not a member of any campaign council and asked members of the public to disregard the reported inclusion of her name.
“I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently. I am staying out of politics. Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name in any campaign committee,” the actress stated.
Her reaction came shortly after the Lagos APC unveiled its campaign council ahead of the 2027 general elections. Abraham had been listed alongside several prominent figures in the entertainment industry under the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate.
The directorate lists Toke Benson-Awoyinka as Director, veteran actor Jide Kosoko as Co-Director and actress Eniola Badmus as Deputy Director. Akeem Alimi, popularly known as Ajala Jalingo, was listed as Secretary, while Dare Olateju was named Assistant Secretary.
Other entertainers included on the published list are veteran actor Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello, Saheed Balogun, Bukky Wright, Fathia Balogun, Yinka Quadri, Tayo Sobola, Bimbo Akintola, Abiola Adebayo, Remi Oshodi and Foluke Daramola.
The list also contains several Fuji musicians, including Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Abass Akande Obesere, Adewale Ayuba, Sulaimon Alao Adekunle, popularly known as Malaika, Akorede Babatunde Okunola, known as Osupa, and Temitope Adekunle, popularly known as Small Doctor.

The Lagos APC campaign council is headed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as Chairman, with Deputy Governor Kadri Obafemi Hamzat serving as Deputy Chairman. The Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate is one of several structures created as the party begins preparations for the 2027 elections.
Abraham’s decision to publicly reject the listing comes years after she became involved in political controversy following her public support for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election.
Her political position at the time attracted criticism and online attacks, with the actress later speaking publicly about the backlash she faced from some social media users. She also took legal steps over some online claims and comments that she said targeted her and members of her family.
The actress’s latest statement makes clear that, despite her name appearing on the published Lagos APC campaign council document, she does not consider herself a member of the campaign structure and does not intend to participate in the campaign council.
The Lagos APC campaign council was scheduled for formal inauguration on Friday, September 18, 2026, at the party’s secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja, as preparations for the 2027 elections continue across the state.
