Trump Praises Tinubu’s Anti-Terror Fight, Backs Efforts To Protect Christians

United States President Donald Trump has commended President Bola Tinubu for what he described as decisive leadership in combating terrorism and improving the protection of Christian communities across Nigeria. The commendation was conveyed in a personal letter sent to the Nigerian leader.
According to details released by the Presidency, Trump acknowledged Tinubu’s commitment to tackling insecurity and confronting terrorist groups responsible for attacks in different parts of the country. He also reaffirmed the United States’ readiness to continue supporting Nigeria in its fight against violent extremism.
The American leader expressed appreciation for Tinubu’s correspondence and said the Nigerian President had demonstrated strong leadership at a time when the country faces significant security challenges.
Trump noted that the efforts of the Nigerian government to confront terrorism and improve the safety of Christian communities had not gone unnoticed, adding that closer cooperation between both countries would strengthen regional security.
He stressed that the United States values its longstanding relationship with Nigeria and remains committed to working with the Tinubu administration in addressing terrorism, violent extremism and other security threats affecting West Africa.
The Presidency said the exchange of letters reflects the growing partnership between Abuja and Washington on security, intelligence sharing and counter-terrorism operations.
Tinubu’s administration has in recent months intensified military operations against terrorists, bandits and other criminal groups, with security agencies reporting the rescue of hundreds of kidnapped victims and the neutralisation of several armed gangs across different parts of the country.
The President has repeatedly maintained that his administration will continue investing in intelligence gathering, military capacity and collaboration with international partners to restore peace and protect all Nigerians regardless of religion or ethnicity.
Observers say Trump’s latest message signals continued security cooperation between Nigeria and the United States, particularly in the areas of counter-terrorism, intelligence exchange and regional stability.
