Oyo Horror Deepens as Abducted Teacher Is Beheaded After School Attack

Fear has gripped communities in Oyo State following the killing of a teacher, Michael Oyedokun, who was reportedly beheaded by bandits days after he was abducted during a violent school invasion in Oriire Local Government Area.

The attack occurred when armed men stormed schools in Esiele and Yawota communities, targeting staff and pupils in a coordinated raid that left residents in panic and forced students and teachers to flee into nearby bushes for safety.

Oyedokun was among several victims, including school principals, vice principals, teachers and pupils, who were taken away during the assault, which also resulted in the death of a school staff member on the spot.

The incident was part of a broader wave of insecurity that saw gunmen arriving on motorcycles and moving from one school to another, firing sporadically and throwing entire communities into chaos as parents rushed to search for missing children.

Security operatives have since intensified search-and-rescue operations in surrounding forests believed to be hideouts for the attackers, as authorities race to secure the release of other abducted victims still in captivity.

The Oyo State Government has described the development as deeply tragic, while reaffirming ongoing efforts with security agencies to track down the perpetrators and prevent further attacks on schools across the state.
