Ogogo’s Daughter Raises Alarm Over People Seeking Money From Father’s Illness
The family of veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, is facing another difficult moment after his daughter, Kira Taiwo, accused some individuals of trying to make money from the actor’s health crisis.
Kira made the allegation while speaking during a TikTok live session, expressing frustration over people who have approached the family claiming to have solutions for her father, who is battling stage-four cancer.
According to her, some of those offering supposed solutions have demanded huge sums from the family. She cited amounts ranging from N800,000 and N5 million to $11,000 and $18,000, questioning why people would use the family’s difficult situation as an opportunity to make money.
Kira stressed that the family was not made up of billionaires and said the financial pressure was becoming overwhelming at a time when their priority was finding appropriate care for their father.
Her comments come days after she and her sister, Lima Taiwo, publicly appealed for help over Ogogo’s deteriorating condition. The daughters had disclosed that their father was battling stage-four cancer and said they were struggling to find continued medical care for him.

The family’s earlier appeal generated widespread concern among fans and colleagues in the Nigerian entertainment industry. Lima had said Ogogo’s condition had become serious and appealed to medical professionals and facilities with experience in cancer treatment to assist the family.
The controversy surrounding the actor’s treatment has also attracted medical commentary. Doctor Olusina Ajidahun, popularly known online as The Bearded Dr Sina, explained that patients with advanced cancer may sometimes be moved towards palliative care after available treatments such as chemotherapy have been explored. He cautioned against interpreting such a transition as hospitals simply refusing to treat a patient.
Ajidahun also warned the public against unverified herbal remedies, stressing that people claiming to have herbal cures for stage-four cancer could expose vulnerable patients to further complications.
For Kira, however, the immediate concern is the people she says are attempting to exploit the family’s desperation. Her remarks highlight the difficult choices families can face when dealing with serious illness, particularly when unverified treatment offers come with heavy financial demands.
The actor’s family has continued to seek appropriate medical assistance while Nigerians and members of the entertainment industry rally around the veteran star.
Ogogo’s health crisis has consequently become more than a story about a celebrated actor battling illness. It has also opened a wider conversation about medical misinformation, financial exploitation and the vulnerability of families searching desperately for hope when a loved one is seriously ill.
