Night Raid on Kwara Police Camp Leaves Three Officers Dead, Security on Alert

A deadly overnight attack on a police facility in Kwara State has left at least three officers dead, raising fresh concerns over security in the region.

The assault targeted a Police Mobile Force base in Tenebo community, Kaiama Local Government Area, where suspected armed men struck in the early hours of the morning. 

Sources said the attackers arrived in large numbers and launched a surprise invasion, overpowering officers on duty before opening fire. 

During the operation, three policemen were killed while two others sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment. 

Residents described scenes of panic as heavy gunfire echoed through the area, forcing many to flee for safety in the middle of the night.

Eyewitness accounts indicated the attack happened around midnight, with the assailants reportedly moving swiftly in and out of the community.

The incident is the latest in a series of violent attacks in parts of Kwara, particularly within border communities that have seen increased activity by armed groups.

Security authorities are yet to release a full official statement, but investigations and search operations are said to be ongoing to track down those responsible.

The attack has heightened fears among residents, who are calling for stronger security presence and rapid response measures in vulnerable areas.

Analysts say the pattern of targeting security formations signals a worrying shift, suggesting that armed groups may be testing state response capabilities.
