FG Unveils list Of Nigeria’s Most Wanted Fugitives

The Federal Government has released the identities of 162 wanted fugitives, publishing their names, photographs and other personal details in a major effort to track down prison escapees who remain at large across the country.
The list, made public through the Nigerian Correctional Service and the Ministry of Interior, contains individuals who escaped from various correctional centres during jailbreaks recorded in different parts of Nigeria over the past few years.
Among those listed are Nworie Ikechukwu, Nwosu Ikeja, Obi Chika, Obioha Ozoema, Obi Chinedu, Obiakor Francis Uche, Obinna Emmanuel, Obioha Victor, Adamu Ibrahim, Ajoku Darlington, Adamu Muhammed and Amanje Ikenna, among many others still being sought by security agencies.
Authorities said the publication forms part of renewed efforts to locate and recapture inmates who fled custody during attacks on correctional facilities and other security breaches.
According to officials, many of the escapees have remained on the run despite nationwide search operations, prompting the government to release their identities to the public in hopes of generating useful information that could lead to their arrest.
The development comes as security agencies continue to battle rising security threats, including terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and organised criminal activities in different parts of the country.
Officials warned that some of the fugitives may be attempting to blend into communities under false identities, making public cooperation crucial to ongoing efforts to locate them.
The government urged Nigerians to carefully review the published information and report any sighting or knowledge of the whereabouts of the wanted individuals to the nearest security agency.
Authorities also cautioned members of the public against attempting to confront or arrest any suspect themselves, stressing that such information should be passed directly to law enforcement officers.
Security experts say the publication of the list could significantly increase pressure on the fugitives, many of whom have managed to evade capture for years.
The Federal Government has assured citizens that efforts to recapture the escapees will continue and that anyone found aiding, sheltering or assisting wanted persons could face prosecution under Nigerian law.
