BREAKING: IG Finally Arraigns Tajudeen Akanbi In Lagos
The Inspector-General of Police has finally arraigned businessman Ahmed Tajudeen Akanbi before the Igbosere High Court in Lagos over the alleged murder case involving the deaths of Sheriff Ishola Salami and Prince Ademola Akinloye.
The arraignment marks a major development in the case, which has attracted public attention following allegations surrounding the police investigation and claims made by social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan.
Akanbi had previously been at the centre of allegations that he was linked to the two killings in the Ajiran area of Lagos. Police investigative records cited by various reports said arrested suspects allegedly made statements implicating him, while VeryDarkMan has disputed the circumstances surrounding those statements and accused senior police officers of attempting to frame the businessman.
The Nigeria Police Force had earlier confirmed an internal investigation into allegations made against Assistant Inspector-General of Police Moshood Jimoh in connection with the case, while stressing that the criminal proceedings would be allowed to run through the courts.
More details are expected to emerge as proceedings continue at the Igbosere High Court.
