Bauchi Police Arrest Six Over Drugs, Murder Cases

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested six suspects in connection with separate cases involving alleged drug offences, culpable homicide and other crimes across the state.

The arrests formed part of ongoing operations by the command to tackle violent and other criminal activities, according to the police.

Among the cases under investigation is an alleged homicide in Gida Dubu area of Bauchi metropolis, where a misunderstanding between two men reportedly escalated into a physical confrontation.

Police said the incident involved 19-year-old Abubakar Hudu and Hassan Adamu. After the confrontation, the victim reportedly became unconscious and was taken to Specialist Hospital, Bauchi, where he was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.

Detectives from the ‘C’ Division visited the scene and hospital as part of the investigation, while the deceased’s body was released to his family for burial.

In another case in Ningi Local Government Area, police arrested Aminu Jibrin and Salihu Mohammed over allegations involving criminal conspiracy and the unlawful termination of a pregnancy.

The police said the suspects allegedly administered substances that resulted in the termination of the pregnancy of a 22-year-old woman identified as Hauwa’u Yakubu.

The command said the cases had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation and possible prosecution.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, said Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu had directed that the investigations be conducted thoroughly.

The command also warned residents against taking the law into their own hands, urging members of the public to provide credible information that could assist security agencies in preventing and investigating crime.

All the allegations remain subject to investigation, and the suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty by a court.
