Ogun state, unarguably is one of the top leading states in Nigeria who are naturally blessed with national political heroes, civilization emergence history, and also highly rich in socio cultural heritage history haven produced popularly celebrated heroes and heroines who had fought for right course at their time.
In the hall of honour therein lies this late renowned woman, who also happen to be a well respected political figure in Egbaland as of that time, whose role as a powerful female aristocrat and slave trader in pre-colonial and colonial Nigeria history can never be erased.
The 3rd of December 2020 mark the 133th annual remembrance of Madam Efunporoye Osuntinubu, a renowned businesswoman and brave warrior in the history of Egbaland.
History revealed that Madam Tinubu was a successful businesswoman in Abeokuta, who traded salt, slaves and actively involved in Obaship politics in Egbaland.
In Abeokuta where she lived at the time, Madam Tinubu traded in arms and supplied Abeokuta with ammunitions in the war against Dahomey and her activities in the war earned her the chieftaincy title as the first Iyalode of all Egbaland in the 19th century.
The significant impact and courageous role played by late heroine, Madam Efunporoye Osuntinubu in the history of Egbaland deserves to be widely celebrated among the Egbas similarly to how the late popular Lisabi was honoured.
