Just In: Lagos Police Vow to Ensure Arrest of Omoyele Sowore, Declare Him Wanted — Commissioner of Police

By Daniel J Ojukwu
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, has confirmed that activist Omoyele Sowore remains declared wanted, adding that the police will take every legal step to arrest him. Jimoh restated this position on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme in Lagos.
The Commissioner said Sowore was declared wanted on Monday for allegedly “causing a disturbance of public peace and acts to commit a serious felony by planning to obstruct traffic on the Third Mainland Bridge.” He explained that despite being invited, Sowore had yet to report to the police for questioning.
“My declaration that Sowore is wanted is still in force,” CP Jimoh said on the programme. “We are going to do everything within the ambit of the law to get him arrested, investigated, and prosecuted for these offences.”

Jimoh also disclosed that Sowore’s lawyer had reached out to him by text message while he was attending to a riot on Monday. The message, according to him, was forwarded to the Officer-in-Charge of Legal at the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department for necessary follow-up.
“They agreed that Sowore will turn up at the CID because that is where the investigation is being carried out. The normal practice in investigation is to conclude inquiries before going for arrest,” the Commissioner explained.
However, he noted that the activist had not kept to the agreement. “Throughout yesterday he has failed to report,” Jimoh said, insisting that the police would continue to pursue the case lawfully.
The Commissioner maintained that he has the authority to declare Sowore wanted and urged anyone with a different opinion to seek redress in court.
