Tinubu Mourns Peter Onwubuariri, Presidential Media Aide Dies At 48

President Bola Tinubu has mourned the death of Peter Onwubuariri, Assistant Director of Media at the Presidential Villa, who died in Kano after a prolonged illness.

Onwubuariri died on Monday at the age of 48 after receiving treatment for about a month at the Kano Cancer Hospital. His death was confirmed by his wife, Catherine Ezinna Onwubuariri.

Reacting to the death, Tinubu described the late journalist’s passing as a painful loss to the Presidency, the News Agency of Nigeria, the media community and the country.

The President praised Onwubuariri for his professionalism, dedication and commitment to public service, saying his calm disposition earned him the respect of colleagues and associates.

Onwubuariri joined the Presidential Villa media team in 2014 after working with the News Agency of Nigeria, where he rose through the ranks and served as an Assistant Editor-in-Chief.

He later worked with the media teams of three successive administrations led by Presidents Goodluck Jonathan, Muhammadu Buhari and Bola Tinubu.

During his journalism career, he covered major issues including foreign affairs, telecommunications, politics and finance, bringing years of experience to his work at the Presidency.

Tinubu said the deceased’s service across three administrations demonstrated his competence, integrity and commitment to national service.

The President extended his condolences to Onwubuariri’s wife, his three children, family members, colleagues and friends, while praying for strength for them to cope with the loss.

Meanwhile, the late journalist’s remains were released from the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital on Tuesday for transportation to Owerri, Imo State, where he is expected to be buried.
