Adeleke’s Wife Urges Osun Residents to Ignore Fear, Turn Out to Vote
The wife of Osun State Governor, Erelu Ngozi Adeleke, has appealed to residents not to allow fear, threats or intimidation stop them from taking part in the governorship election, urging eligible voters to come out and exercise their democratic rights.
Ngozi Adeleke made the appeal on Saturday after casting her vote, saying the atmosphere at her polling unit was calm and peaceful.
She encouraged eligible voters who were still at home to proceed to their polling units, stressing that casting their ballots was both their right and responsibility.
The governor’s wife said she had not witnessed any form of intimidation or violence at her polling centre, adding that there was no rancour or fighting.
She assured residents that they should not be discouraged by fears raised before the election, urging them to participate in deciding the next leader of the state.
Her appeal came as voting got underway across Osun’s 30 local government areas, with security personnel deployed to maintain order during the exercise.
Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking another term on the Accord Party platform, also cast his vote at Ward 02, Polling Unit 009, Abogunde Compound in Ede North Local Government Area.
Security and alleged intimidation had been major concerns in the build-up to the governorship election, making the governor’s wife’s call a direct appeal to voters to participate without fear.
As the election continues, attention remains on voter turnout and the ability of security agencies and electoral officials to ensure that the exercise remains peaceful across the state.
