Ekiti Elders Praise Oyebanji, Back Governor’s Re-Election Victory

The Ekiti Council of Elders has congratulated Biodun Oyebanji following his victory in the recently concluded Ekiti governorship election, praising what it described as his impressive performance during his first term in office.
The group said the governor’s re-election victory was a clear reflection of public confidence in his leadership style and the developmental projects his administration has delivered across the state over the past few years.
In a statement issued after the election, the elders noted that many residents of Ekiti rewarded the governor with another mandate because of what they called visible progress in infrastructure, education, healthcare and economic development.
According to the council, Oyebanji’s first tenure brought measurable improvements in several sectors, convincing many voters that continuity would better serve the long-term interests of the state.
The elders expressed confidence that the governor’s second term would allow him to consolidate on projects already started while introducing fresh policies aimed at accelerating growth and improving the welfare of residents.
They also commended the peaceful conduct of the election and described the outcome as a strong endorsement of democratic participation by the people of Ekiti State.
Political observers have noted that Oyebanji secured one of the strongest victories recorded in recent Ekiti elections, reportedly sweeping all 16 local government areas during the governorship contest.
Supporters of the governor argue that his administration has maintained stability within the state while pursuing development-focused governance that has attracted broad support from different political and community groups.
The endorsement by the elders is expected to further strengthen public confidence as the governor begins preparations for another term in office following his decisive electoral victory.
With renewed political backing now growing around his administration, attention is expected to shift toward how the governor plans to build on his first-term achievements and deliver on expectations during his second tenure.
