Don’t transact in disputed Lekki estate, firm warns buyers

A legal dispute surrounding parcels of land at Hampton Estate, also known as Lekki Island in Osapa, Lagos, has prompted a warning to prospective buyers to avoid transactions involving the property pending the resolution of ongoing court cases.
Issuing the warning, the firm, Dreams Court Limited, a sister company to Capital Gardens Limited, said approximately four hectares and 15,000 square metres of land are currently the subject of active litigation at the Lagos State High Court.
The firm in a statement said the cases included Capital Gardens Limited v. Oretol Nigeria Limited and Adewale Oladapo (LD/9195GCM/2025) and Oretol Nigeria Limited v. Dreams Court Limited & Ors (LD/5197GCM/2025).
The suits bordered on disputes over land ownership and who possessed valid title. Dreams Court Limited claims that it holds valid rights to the property through a Deed of Sublease backed by a Lagos State Certificate of Occupancy dated July 9, 2018.
According to the company, the court has already granted an interim injunction restraining some parties in the suit. Despite this, the company alleged that some companies and entities have continued to market and trespass on the property.
“The court order remains in effect and must be strictly adhered to,” the company warned, adding that any attempt to transact on the land without its consent or that of Capital Gardens would be unlawful and could lead to contempt proceedings.
It cautioned the public to stay away from the property until the court delivers its ruling, stressing that all dealings in the interim would be null and legally indefensible.
