Gbenga Daniel Says He Was Shut Out Of APC Meeting

Former Ogun State governor and senator representing Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel, has raised concerns after claiming he was denied entry into a key All Progressives Congress stakeholders meeting in Ijebu Ode.
The meeting, held at Adeola Odutola Hall on Monday, was expected to bring together major political figures from Ogun East, including party leaders, elected officials and stakeholders across different levels.
However, Daniel said he was unable to gain access to the venue despite arriving for the gathering. In a video that has since circulated widely, he was seen addressing supporters from his campaign bus parked outside the location.
Speaking in the footage, the former governor expressed surprise at the development, stating that he had come for the caucus meeting but was informed that he could not enter.
He also questioned the legitimacy of decisions that might be taken at the meeting, insisting that any outcome reached without his participation should not be recognised.
The lawmaker’s reaction has sparked fresh discussions within the party, especially given his position as a senior figure in Ogun politics.
Sources within the party indicated that the meeting was organised as an emergency stakeholders’ session involving key political actors in the zone.
The invitation list reportedly included deputy governors, former and current local government chairmen, councillors, and members of both the state and National Assembly.
Observers say the situation highlights ongoing tensions within the party structure in Ogun State.
While the reasons for Daniel’s exclusion were not immediately clear, the development has raised questions about internal unity within the APC in the state.
Political watchers believe the incident may have implications for party cohesion ahead of future political activities in Ogun East.
The APC leadership in the state has yet to issue an official response regarding the claims.
The situation continues to attract attention as party members and supporters react to the unfolding events.
