Tinubu Names Odusote Nigerian Law School DG

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Olugbemisola Titilayo Odusote as the Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, making her the first woman to lead the institution since its establishment in 1962. The appointment takes effect from January 10, 2026, and will run for a four-year term.

Dr. Odusote, 57, currently serves as the Deputy Director-General and Head of the Lagos Campus of the Law School. She succeeds Professor Isa Hayatu Chiroma, whose eight-year tenure ends on January 9, 2026.

Odusote earned her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) and Master of Laws (LL.M.) degrees from Obafemi Awolowo University, specialising in Company and Commercial Law, and later obtained a Doctorate in Law from the University of Surrey, United Kingdom, focusing on Public Law and the administration of justice.

She joined the Nigerian Law School as a lecturer in 2001 and has since held key positions including Head of the Academic Department, Director of Academics, and Head of Campus.

Throughout her career, she has been a visiting scholar at Nottingham Trent University, contributed to policy reforms through the Council of Legal Education and Nigerian Bar Association committees, and published extensively in local and international law journals.

As Director-General, Odusote will oversee academic and administrative leadership across all campuses, coordinate programmes, modernise the institution, and serve as the principal liaison with key stakeholders, including the Council of Legal Education, Body of Benchers, and Nigerian Bar Association.
