11 Feared Dead, Scores of Homes Destroyed in Fresh Nasarawa Communal Violence

At least 11 people have been killed and more than 50 houses burnt following a violent clash between rival groups in a community in Nasarawa State.

The attack, which reportedly happened in the early hours of the day, forced many residents to flee for safety as armed assailants stormed the area and set homes ablaze.

Sources said the violence was linked to a reprisal attack, allegedly triggered by the earlier killing of two persons, which escalated tensions within the community. 

Eyewitnesses revealed that the attackers moved from house to house, destroying properties and leaving several buildings in ruins.

Security agencies have confirmed the incident and said efforts are ongoing to track down those responsible for the killings and destruction.

Authorities also disclosed that the situation has been brought under control, with additional security personnel deployed to prevent further breakdown of law and order.

Meanwhile, survivors of the attack have been displaced, with many left without shelter after their homes were razed during the violence.

Community leaders have called for calm while urging the government to take decisive action to prevent future clashes.

This latest incident adds to the growing concerns over recurring communal conflicts in parts of the state.

Residents are now appealing for urgent humanitarian assistance and improved security presence to protect lives and property.
