FG Declares 2-Day Public Holiday

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebration.
April 3 will be observed as Good Friday, while April 6 has been designated as Easter Monday.
The announcement was made on Wednesday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
He congratulated Christians in Nigeria and around the world on the occasion and urged citizens to reflect on the core values associated with Easter.
The minister emphasized the need for unity and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians, noting that the season serves as a reminder of the importance of love, tolerance, and community.
He also reiterated the government’s commitment to implementing policies aimed at fostering national development.
Tunji-Ojo further wished Christians a joyful and peaceful Easter celebration.
