Train Collides with Bus, No Casualties

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed that no injury or death was recorded after a train collided with a Toyota Hiace bus at Arena, Oshodi, Lagos. The incident occurred despite the severity of the crash, with all occupants escaping unharmed.
In a preliminary report dated December 23, 2025, and signed by the agency’s Permanent Secretary, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, LASEMA said its emergency response team was swiftly deployed after distress calls were received through its emergency lines.
The agency explained that it activated the state’s emergency response plan from its Cappa Base in Oshodi immediately after receiving the alert at about 7:53pm. Officials arrived at the scene at approximately 8:11pm.
On arrival, responders discovered that a train had collided with a white Toyota Hiace bus with registration number AGL-671-XR at the Arena axis of Oshodi.
According to LASEMA, preliminary findings indicated that reckless driving by the bus driver caused the accident, as the vehicle strayed onto the rail tracks outside the Arena shopping complex before being hit by the oncoming train.
Although no casualty was recorded, the agency noted that the bus suffered extensive damage due to the impact of the collision.
LASEMA said its response team immediately carried out a safety assessment of the area and put measures in place to prevent further incidents.
Train operations were temporarily suspended to allow for the safe evacuation of the damaged bus from the tracks.
The bus was later removed and towed to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) yard in Oshodi.
The agency confirmed that the rail line has since been cleared and normal train operations restored.
Officials of LASEMA and LASTMA were involved in the successful recovery operation.
