Anthony Joshua Set for Reported £75m Payday Against Tyson Fury

Anthony Joshua is set for one of the biggest paydays of his boxing career when he faces fellow British heavyweight Tyson Fury on December 11 at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.

Reports surrounding the blockbuster have put the total prize pot at about £150m, with Joshua and Fury expected to share it equally. That would give each fighter a reported £75m, although the exact contractual figures have not been publicly released.

The reported amount would represent a career-best payday for Joshua, whose previous earnings from a single fight have been estimated at around £65m. Fury is also expected to receive a record British boxing purse for the long-awaited clash.

Joshua reportedly gave up the possibility of earning substantially more by insisting that the fight take place in the United Kingdom rather than the United States. His promoter, Eddie Hearn, said the decision involved leaving “substantial millions” on the table.

The Principality Stadium in Cardiff will host the contest, with the venue capable of accommodating tens of thousands of spectators under its retractable roof. The fight will also be broadcast globally on Netflix.

The financial scale of the event reflects the enormous interest surrounding a contest that has been discussed for almost a decade. Joshua and Fury have repeatedly been linked with each other, but previous negotiations failed to produce an official fight.

Both men enter the contest as former heavyweight world champions. Joshua has a professional record of 30 wins and four defeats, including 27 knockouts, while Fury has recorded 36 wins, two defeats and one draw, with 25 victories coming by knockout.

The two fighters have also shared a major connection through Oleksandr Usyk, who defeated both men twice during his reign at the top of the heavyweight division. Their December meeting will therefore provide both with an opportunity to establish themselves again on one of boxing’s biggest stages.

The reported £75m figure has circulated widely in British media, while other reports have valued the overall event at close to $200m. The difference reflects estimates of the entire commercial package rather than a publicly confirmed breakdown of each fighter’s contract.

Joshua and Fury are expected to begin the final stage of their preparations with the eyes of the boxing world fixed on Cardiff. After years of negotiations, the two British heavyweights will finally settle their rivalry inside the ring on December 11.
