Anambra Mother Arrested After Husband Discovers Alleged Abuse
The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 36-year-old woman, Anulika Onyeanusia, over an alleged sexual abuse of her underage daughter, after her husband said a friend showed him a video that revealed what was happening.
The woman’s husband, Ikechukwu Onyeanyusi, said he was returning from his business on Thursday when a friend contacted him and showed him the video. He said he was shocked to see his wife and daughter in the recording and initially struggled to understand what he was seeing.
According to him, he confronted his wife after watching the video and asked her to explain what had happened. He said she denied the allegation and claimed that the video had been generated using artificial intelligence.
Onyeanyusi said he did not accept the explanation because he recognised both his wife and daughter in the footage. He subsequently became involved in efforts to report the matter and ensure that the children were protected.
The incident occurred in Onitsha, where the family resides. Police officers who investigated the case reportedly recovered sex toys and other items considered relevant to the investigation.
The Anambra State Police Command said the woman was arrested on September 10 following open-source intelligence linked to a disturbing viral video allegedly showing a woman sexually abusing a minor. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to establish the circumstances surrounding the allegations.
Four children, aged two, three, six and nine, were also rescued during the police operation. Their protection has become a major part of the response as authorities examine whether there were other concerns involving the children.
The husband’s account has brought further attention to how abuse involving children can remain hidden within homes until a parent, relative, teacher or other trusted person notices warning signs or discovers evidence.
The case also highlights the importance of reporting suspected child abuse to the appropriate authorities rather than attempting to handle such allegations privately. The police and relevant child protection agencies are expected to determine what happened and whether criminal charges will follow.
For now, the allegations against Onyeanusia remain subject to investigation, while the rescued children are expected to receive protection and appropriate support as authorities continue their inquiry.
