Pressure Mounts On Gbajabiamila As Party Demands Sack Over PFIPC Scandal

Fresh political pressure has mounted on Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, after the Nigeria Democratic Congress called for his immediate removal over allegations linking him to the growing PFIPC scandal.

The opposition party demanded an independent investigation into the controversy surrounding the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, insisting the matter has raised serious concerns about transparency and accountability within the Presidency.

The latest demand follows allegations connecting the controversial agency scandal to top government officials, with critics now pushing for urgent action as the controversy continues to deepen. 

According to the NDC, allegations made by Prince Matthew Adeniyi Adeyemi suggest that the controversial agency allegedly received allocations in the 2026 national budget despite the Presidency publicly denying the existence of such an institution.

The party questioned how a body said not to officially exist was allegedly able to open multiple financial accounts, including a Treasury Single Account and foreign currency accounts reportedly linked to the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The opposition group also raised concerns over claims that hundreds of staff positions were allegedly approved for the agency despite government officials insisting the organisation was never lawfully created.

Another major allegation involved claims that large sums of money were allegedly demanded in connection with the controversial appointment tied to the agency.

The Presidency, however, has continued to distance itself from the controversy, insisting the PFIPC does not exist under the Tinubu administration and describing Adeyemi as an impostor currently facing criminal prosecution.

Government officials maintained that investigations earlier revealed forged appointment documents allegedly used to falsely present the organisation as an official federal agency.

Political observers say the controversy is rapidly growing into one of the biggest scandals currently facing the Presidency as demands for a transparent and independent investigation continue to increase.

The development has now intensified public scrutiny on the administration, with opposition figures insisting that anyone found connected to the scandal, regardless of position, must be fully investigated and prosecuted under the law.
