Oyebanji Fires Back At Critics After Winning Re-Election

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has reacted strongly to critics following his victory in the state governorship election, saying elections are won through voters at polling units and not arguments on social media.
The governor spoke shortly after securing another term in office, dismissing online attacks against his administration and insisting that real political support is measured by votes cast during elections. Thousands of voters across the state participated in the election that ended with Oyebanji recording a major victory over his closest challengers.
Speaking after the results were announced, Oyebanji said many of those criticising his government online failed to understand that social media discussions do not determine electoral success.
According to him, political leaders earn victory by connecting directly with the people and delivering projects that positively affect everyday lives.
The governor stated that those who spend time spreading negative comments online often ignore the reality on the ground where citizens make their final decisions.
He compared governance to hard work on a farm, saying those who work for the people eventually receive support when election time arrives.
The election results showed a strong performance for the ruling party, with Oyebanji reportedly winning across all local government areas in the state.
Observers said the outcome further strengthened his political position as he prepares to begin another term leading the state government.
The victory has also sparked fresh political conversations, with many analysts already discussing what the result could mean ahead of future elections in the country.
