Desmond Elliott Seeks Peace With Gbajabiamila as Lagos APC Tension Grows\

By Ranti Thomas
Actor and Lagos lawmaker Desmond Elliott has publicly reached out to President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, amid growing political tension within the Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress.
Elliott made the appeal while speaking about their long political relationship, saying he still regards Gbajabiamila as his political leader despite recent controversies surrounding the Lagos Assembly crisis.
The Surulere politician said if his actions or political decisions had in any way offended the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, he sincerely apologised and never intended to create problems.
He stressed that his loyalty and respect for Gbajabiamila remain unchanged, describing their relationship as one built over many years in Lagos politics.
The emotional appeal comes days after Gbajabiamila disclosed that allegations linking Elliott to the Lagos Assembly leadership crisis almost affected his position as Chief of Staff to the President.
That revelation sparked fresh political debate within APC circles and increased attention on Elliott’s role during the period of tension in the Assembly.
In his latest remarks, Elliott attempted to calm the situation, insisting that political misunderstandings should not destroy personal relationships or long-standing alliances.
He also defended his decision to seek another term in the Lagos State House of Assembly, arguing that experience in the legislature remains important for effective representation.
The lawmaker’s comments have already generated fresh reactions within Surulere politics, where internal battles ahead of the APC primaries continue to intensify.
Some observers believe the public apology may be part of wider efforts to rebuild trust and reduce political tension before the next election cycle fully begins.
With Lagos APC politics becoming more heated, many party supporters are now watching to see whether the relationship between both politicians will fully recover in the coming months.
