Kate Henshaw Speaks Out to Raise Awareness on Menopause

Nollywood veteran Kate Henshaw has stepped forward to advocate for greater awareness of menopause and women’s health in Nigeria.
She highlighted that menopause and hormonal changes are natural stages in a woman’s life, yet conversations around them remain limited across the country.
Many women experience symptoms such as hot flashes, mood changes, and skin dryness without understanding that they are linked to hormonal changes.
Henshaw spoke at an event focused on internal wellness during the 2026 Continuing Education Conference of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter.
During a panel session, she shared her personal experience, noting that she only recognised the symptoms of menopause after the age of 50.
She stressed that true wellness goes beyond physical appearance and requires proper awareness, consistency, and access to scientifically backed solutions.
Also speaking, the Managing Director of Pontisalus Pharmacy, Ibukun Tola-Ogunyemi, said there is growing demand for reliable, evidence-based wellness products for women.
She explained that Efamol EPO, which contains Gamma Linolenic Acid, offers a credible option for supporting women’s health compared to many generic supplements.
Adding to the discussion, menopause coach Mosunmola Dosumu said hormonal decline affects skin, hydration, and overall comfort in women.
She emphasised that menopause is a natural phase that can be managed effectively with proper knowledge, support, and nutrition.
Meanwhile, the CEO of New Heights Pharmaceuticals Limited, Ogheneochuko Omaruaye, said the company is working with pharmacies nationwide to improve access to trusted wellness solutions for women.
