The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), winner of the Anambra State Governorship Election held on Saturday, November 8, 2025. The election, conducted across the 21 local government areas of the state, saw Soludo secure a decisive victory, reaffirming his strong grip on the political landscape of Anambra.
According to the final results announced by the Anambra Returning Officer, Soludo polled a total of 422,664 votes, far ahead of his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 99,445 votes. Other candidates who participated also recorded commendable performances across several local government areas. The total number of valid votes cast stood at 584,054, while rejected votes were 11,244.
The victory marks Soludo’s second consecutive term in office, having first been elected in 2021. His re-election is widely seen as a reward for his reform-driven leadership, focus on development, and commitment to making Anambra a model of good governance.
In a smooth and well-organized election, INEC once again demonstrated its capacity to conduct credible polls. Many observers, both local and international, described the process as peaceful, transparent, and largely hitch-free.
Speaking after the announcement, Governor Soludo expressed deep gratitude to the people of Anambra for renewing their confidence in him. He thanked God, the voters, INEC officials, security agencies, and his fellow contestants for their sportsmanship and commitment to democracy.
“This victory belongs to every son and daughter of Anambra,” Soludo said. “Together, we will continue to build a state that is livable, prosperous, and full of opportunities for all.”
The re-elected governor promised to consolidate on his first-term achievements, with special focus on infrastructure, youth empowerment, digital innovation, and security. He emphasized that his administration’s next four years would prioritize sustainable growth and stronger community partnerships.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was among the first to congratulate Governor Soludo, commending his dedication to service and the people’s resounding show of confidence. The President also praised INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, and his team for ensuring that the election was orderly, transparent, and reflective of the people’s will.
“This election has once again proven that democracy in Nigeria is growing stronger,” President Tinubu said in his congratulatory message. “I commend the INEC Chairman and his team for a job well done, and I congratulate all candidates for demonstrating maturity and faith in our democratic process.”
Political observers believe Soludo’s landslide win across all 21 local government areas is a testament to his popularity and performance in office. His government’s record in road construction, education reform, and urban renewal was cited by many voters as key reasons for their renewed support.
Across Anambra, scenes of celebration filled the streets as residents and supporters of APGA rejoiced in what they described as a “victory for progress and continuity.” In Awka, Onitsha, and Nnewi, groups of youths and market women were seen waving party flags and chanting songs of unity and hope.
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) leadership also lauded Soludo’s victory, describing it as a “mandate for good governance” and proof that performance still matters in Nigerian politics.
INEC officials received praise from all corners for their efficiency and professionalism throughout the election process. Voter turnout was encouraging, and the use of technology once again strengthened the credibility of the electoral system. Many polling units recorded early starts, and results were uploaded promptly to the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV).
Election observers from civil society organizations also commended the peaceful atmosphere, noting that the people of Anambra conducted themselves with dignity and patience.
In his speech, Soludo extended an olive branch to all his opponents, urging them to join hands with him in moving the state forward. He congratulated each candidate for their efforts and commitment to a fair contest, describing the election as a victory for all Anambra people.
“Elections are over. Now is the time for governance,” Soludo said. “Let us all come together, regardless of party lines, to build the Anambra of our dreams.”
As the dust settles, many analysts believe Soludo’s second term offers a chance to deepen his vision for a digitally-driven, economically vibrant, and socially inclusive Anambra. With a renewed mandate and a proven record, expectations are high for what the next four years will bring.
The people of Anambra have spoken clearly — and in one voice — reaffirming their trust in a leader who has kept faith with his promises.
Congratulations to Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, to all the candidates who participated honorably, to INEC for its stellar organization, and to the people of Anambra State for upholding the true spirit of democracy.
