Police Raid Drug Hub, Arrest 18

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has dismantled illegal drug distribution hideouts in Itu Local Government Area, arresting 18 suspects.
DSP Timfon John, the Police Public Relations Officer, said the operation took place on Sunday in Oku Iboko and Mbak communities.
“These locations are active drug distribution hubs; they are also fueling criminal activities in the area,” she said.
A significant quantity of suspected illicit substances was recovered during the raids.
Preliminary investigations indicate the hideouts were used to distribute narcotics, contributing to youth delinquency, violent crimes, and other social vices.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the network and apprehend additional collaborators.
John urged anyone involved in drug trafficking and related crimes to desist or face the full force of the law.
The police reaffirmed their commitment to tackling criminality across the state.
“We shall continue to intensify intelligence-driven raids across the state to dismantle criminal hideouts,” John said.
Community leaders and residents were encouraged to provide credible and actionable intelligence to the police.
“Those who choose to undermine the peace and safety of Akwa Ibom should be prepared for swift and decisive action,” she added.
Police operations in the area aim to reduce crime and drug-related social problems.
The command says the arrests mark a significant step in combating illegal narcotics activities.
Authorities warn that further raids will target other suspected drug syndicate locations.
Recovered substances will be analyzed as part of ongoing criminal investigations. The police praised the cooperation of local residents who provided tips leading to the raids.
Efforts are being made to trace the supply chain of the seized drugs. Police assure the public that maintaining law and order remains a top priority.
The command called on communities to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
