Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has given a positive update on his squad ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash against West Ham at Stamford Bridge, confirming that Cole Palmer is fit and available for selection.
The Blues return to league action after a thrilling 3–2 comeback win over Napoli in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday. Palmer played a key role in that victory, coming off the bench to provide two assists for Joao Pedro, and Rosenior said the midfielder came through the match without any problems.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday, Rosenior said Palmer is ready to start against the Hammers.
“Cole is fine. He had an outstanding performance the other night with two assists and came through the game well. He’s available to start tomorrow and we’re very happy about that,” the Chelsea boss said.
Rosenior also praised Palmer’s attitude, noting his strong desire to always be on the pitch, while stressing the need to carefully manage his fitness.
“He wants to play every minute of every game, and that’s what makes him a special talent. But all decisions are made with the players’ best interests in mind,” he added.
The Chelsea coach also provided updates on injured players, revealing that Romeo Lavia, Tosin Adarabioyo and Dario Essugo are all making steady progress in their recoveries, though none will be rushed back.
“They’re all getting closer day by day,” Rosenior explained. “Tosin was back on the pitch today doing individual work. Romeo is in a very good place, while Dario is still a bit behind.”
There was also encouraging news about Levi Colwill, who has been sidelined since pre-season with a knee injury. Rosenior confirmed the defender is recovering well and could return before the season ends, but insisted there will be no rush.
“He’s progressing really well and it’s great to see him back running. He’s eager to return, but his health comes first,” he said.
Chelsea will aim to carry their European momentum into the league when they host West Ham on Saturday evening.
