Messi sets all-time record: 405 assists

By Wellington Jopelo
Lionel Messi reached another huge milestone as he became the top assist maker in the history of football.
The 37-year-old star created his 405th career assist during Inter Miami’s MLS Cup semifinal on Sunday, helping his team beat New York City 5–1.
The key pass came in the 67th minute, when Messi slipped the ball through for young teammate Mateo Silvetti to score.
With that assist, Messi moved past Ferenc Puskás, whom he had tied earlier in the match, and now stands alone at the top of the all-time play making list.
Inter Miami’s big win also secured the Eastern Conference championship and booked their place in the MLS Cup final. They will face Vancouver, the Western Conference winners, on Saturday, December 6.
Messi’s season has been filled with milestones, and this new record adds yet another highlight to a career already packed with historic numbers.
