Former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, has stated clearly that he stands by all the decisions he made while serving in government, insisting that he has no regrets about his time in office.
He made this known after regaining his freedom following a period of detention linked to ongoing legal proceedings against him.
Malami is currently facing multiple charges bordering on alleged money laundering alongside members of his immediate family.
Both the former minister and the other defendants in the case have firmly denied all the allegations brought against them by the authorities.
Reports indicate that Malami was taken back into custody in January shortly after he had earlier been released from detention.
During that period, he accused security agencies of denying him access to his family members and legal representatives while he was being held.
A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja later granted him and his son bail, fixing the sum at N200 million each.
Following the court’s decision, he was able to meet the bail conditions and was subsequently released from custody.
In a recent interview, Malami described his experience in detention as part of destiny, noting that he accepts everything that happened as the will of God.
Despite this, he maintained that he is determined to defend himself vigorously in court and prove his innocence.
He also alleged that investigators carried out searches on his houses and business premises without informing him, which he described as a violation of his constitutional rights.
In conclusion, Malami reiterated that despite the challenges and controversies surrounding his tenure, he has no regrets over the actions he took while serving as a minister.
