Machado vows return to Venezuela

Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Machado said that she plans to return to Venezuela “as soon as possible” after the removal of President Nicolas Maduro from power by the US military.
Speaking publicly for the first time since the dramatic events over the weekend, Machado said she is ready to go home and take part in shaping the country’s future.
In an interview with Fox News, Machado said she does not recognize interim president Delcy Rodriguez and strongly criticized her record. Machado said the Venezuelan people do not support Rodriguez and want real change through free elections.
Machado accused Rodriguez, who previously served as vice president under Maduro, of being involved in corruption, abuse, and criminal activities.
Although Rodriguez has shown interest in working with the United States, Machado said she is rejected by most Venezuelans.
Machado said she believes the opposition would win by a large margin if elections were fair.
She also promised to rebuild Venezuela’s economy, turn the country into a major energy center, break down criminal networks, and help millions of Venezuelans who fled the country return home.
