JUST IN: Tinubu Swears In Ministers

By Akeem Oduyoye
President Bola Tinubu on Thursday swore in Dr. Bernard Doro and Dr. Kingsley Udeh as new ministers during a short ceremony held at the State House, Abuja, just before the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting — the first since July 2025. The event took place around 1:52 p.m. inside the Council Chamber.
The new appointments restore cabinet representation for Plateau and Enugu States, which had been without ministers in recent weeks. The ceremony officially brings the number of ministers in Tinubu’s cabinet to 48.
Dr. Doro, from Kwall in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, is a UK-trained clinical practitioner and public health expert. He was nominated by the President on October 21 to replace Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, who left the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction after becoming the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress.
According to the Presidency, Doro holds several degrees in Pharmacy, Law, and Advanced Clinical Practice, with over two decades of experience in medicine, pharmacy, and technology-driven health systems.
Dr. Kingsley Udeh, from Enugu State, served as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice before his nomination. He replaces Uche Nnaji, the former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, who resigned on October 7, 2025. Udeh, recently honoured as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), was nominated on November 4 and quickly confirmed by the Senate.
Following the swearing-in, President Tinubu presided over the Federal Executive Council meeting, where the Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, briefed members on Nigeria’s strong return to the international capital market. He announced that the country’s $2.35 billion Eurobond was oversubscribed by 453 percent, attracting about $13 billion in orders.
Edun said, “The next phase of reforms will remove barriers holding back investors. We will review tariffs and import restrictions to stimulate productivity and investment.” He added that ongoing financial reviews aim to improve transparency, strengthen public spending, and make reform gains benefit all Nigerians.
President Tinubu welcomed the report, saying his administration remains focused on growing the economy, defeating insecurity, and building “a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.”
