Just In: Gunna, Busta Rhymes top Detty Fest

Detty December Fest has officially unveiled the first wave of artistes for its 2025 edition, putting together a lineup that immediately caught public attention. The announcement confirmed that American stars Gunna and Busta Rhymes will headline different nights of the month-long festival, alongside Tanzania’s Juma Jux and Nigeria’s Bella Shmurda.
This year’s festival will run from December 6 to December 31, 2025, and will hold across two major Lagos venues — Ilubirin in Ikoyi and The Livespot Entertarium on Oba Elegushi Beach Road in Lekki. Organisers released a special message from the Minister of Art, Culture & the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, who praised the event for shaping Nigeria’s cultural and entertainment identity.
The minister said the festival has grown into an important part of the country’s creative calendar. She noted that its impact on tourism and global attention continues to strengthen Lagos’ reputation as the heart of December entertainment in West Africa.
Organisers also revealed the performance schedule for the first wave of headliners. The festival will open on December 6 with a Grand Opening Concert featuring an aerial show, followed by a cinematic live experience on December 7. Bella Shmurda is billed to perform on December 13, while Club X returns on December 14.
Juma Jux will take the stage on December 18, and Busta Rhymes will headline a major night on December 19. The festival will continue with themed shows such as Christmas Like a Movie on December 20 and One Night. Infinite Energy. on December 21.
Gunna is set to perform on December 28, making one of the most anticipated nights of the lineup. The yearly Detty rave, tagged Last Call For… The Ultimate Detty December Rave will close out the month’s activities on December 30.
According to the organizers, more artistes, surprise appearances, and additional shows will be announced soon. They said the full program will reflect the entire spirit of Detty December a period known for concerts, nightlife, fashion, culture, food, and creative exhibitions.
Over the years, Detty December Fest has become one of Lagos’ biggest seasonal attractions. Its multi-stage setups, creative installations, and celebrity performances continue to draw thousands from within Nigeria and the diaspora. The festival’s influence on tourism and holiday travel has made Lagos a major destination every December.
The organizers added that their goal remains to create a festival that represents the energy, culture, and joy that Detty December is known for, while giving audiences unforgettable experiences all month long.
